[Sisa Times = Reporter Kim Hye-kyung] With the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, a new era of innovation is dawning in the art world.
On May 27th, the Gangnam Welfare Center for the Disabled held a business agreement signing ceremony with ICF (CEO Seo Young-ho) to maximize the capabilities and artistic potential of disabled artists.
Established in 2011, ICF is a specialized AR company that provides the “AR COOKIE” augmented reality platform service based on active digital research and development and experience. Using AR technology (a technology that extends the real world by overlaying digital information), ICF aims to provide artists with disabilities with unique experiences beyond traditional art exhibitions, such as AR art exhibitions.
Based on this agreement, the Gangnam Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities plans to expand its diverse ways to share culture and art with the local community through an AR art exhibition that showcases synesthetic characteristics and uses generative AI to bring the works of disabled artists to life during the Art Prism “Art Fair” event scheduled for the second half of 2025.
ICF CEO Seo Young-ho stated that this initiative, which incorporates the technological elements of AR and stems from the idea of ”creating an exhibition without artwork,” will serve as a starting point for expanding exhibition opportunities beyond the work of non-disabled artists to include artists with disabilities.
Director Eun Yoon-tae of the Gangnam Welfare Center for Persons with Disabilities stated that as a specialized center specializing in culture and arts for persons with disabilities, the center plans to continuously discover and nurture disabled artists, support their artistic activities, and proactively apply technological advancements to the art world. This will contribute to the realization of social values that respect inclusivity and diversity in the culture and arts environment for persons with disabilities.
