Provides high immersion through expanded appreciation of the work
ICF (CEO Seo Young-ho), a company specializing in AR technology convergence, will participate in the “2025 Ulsan International Art Fair (UIAF 2025)” held at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center from June 5th to 8th.
ICF has contributed to the digital transformation (DX) of the Korean arts and culture industry based on its “AR STUDIO” technology, which transforms existing artworks such as paintings, sculptures, cultural assets, and objects into 3D content.
Founded in 2011, ICF has demonstrated specialized capabilities in design and engineering utilizing 3D graphic production technology and has built a broad network across the industry. In recent years, ICF has also successfully expanded its business by pursuing independent R&D and securing technologies in the AR, VR, and AI (artificial intelligence) fields.
ICF’s flagship service, AR Studio, is a proprietary platform and service that promotes a “digital palette.” It uses 3D scanning technology to digitize real-world objects, processing and optimizing them into 3D objects and content. By implementing 360-degree 3D objects and diverse graphic and sound effects, ICF aims to expand the perspective of art appreciation from two-dimensional to three-dimensional and synesthetic.
Furthermore, ICF has collaborated with Korean artists to expand the reach of AR art exhibitions both domestically and internationally. Beginning with the “1st AR ART Exhibition” held at Tom N Toms x Gallery Tom Apgujeong in May of last year, ICF has participated in numerous special and comprehensive exhibitions, including the “Kang Jong-yeol Special Exhibition” (June, Sejong Museum Gallery) and “Light and Cake 4: Capturing Daydreams” (December, Gallery Woohwagak).
At the 2024 Cheonggyecheon Lantern Festival held late last year, architect and installation artist Han Won-seok produced and exhibited “Hyeonyeong (玄影): Black Shadow,” an AR art piece inspired by the Emile Bell, garnering rave reviews from visitors. At the event, a meta-quest version of ICF’s AR viewer application (app), “AR Cookie,” was demonstrated, providing visitors with an expanded art appreciation experience beyond mobile devices like smartphones.
Furthermore, ICF has secured 10 additional affiliated artists for 2025, enriching its artist lineup compared to previous years. Based on this, ICF participated in a series of events, including the World Art Expo Seoul 2025 (January, COEX), the Yangjae Stream Cherry Blossom Lantern Festival (April, Yangjae Citizen’s Forest), and the 2025 HI vs AI Video Festival (April, Picturehouse), showcasing AR art created from these works to the public.
At UIAF 2025, to be held in June, they plan to exhibit classic masterpieces such as Leonardo da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa,” Gustav Klimt’s “The Kiss,” and Shin Yun-bok’s “Portrait of a Beauty” as AR art. The digital conversion process for each piece leverages the generative AI-based automatic 3D content creation technology, which will be added to AR Studio this year. Through this technology, ICF plans to reproduce the outside of the frame, a feature not previously visible in existing works.
This August, ICF will host a special exhibition at Lotte Premium Outlet Uiwang branch, showcasing a number of classic masterpieces and works by Korean Western painter Kang Jong-yeol. The collection will also launch an “AR Art Collection” based on these works. The AR Art Collection consists of card-shaped merchandise printed with a painting on the front and an “AR code” on the back that allows users to access the AR artwork at any time. ICF has been developing this product with the goal of popularizing the art collection culture.
ICF CEO Seo Young-ho stated, “We aim to go beyond simply digitizing masterpieces, offering viewers a glimpse into a world beyond the frame of a painting, like the full-length Mona Lisa or the backs of lovers kissing in Klimt’s paintings. Our AI model, which boasts a high degree of reproducibility of the era, culture, and style in which the artworks were created, will enable a highly immersive experience, as if immersed in the world within the artwork.”
CEO Seo continued, “We expect that by selling AR art merchandise that allows users to enjoy the artworks anytime, anywhere, while also allowing them to truly appreciate the artworks, we will be able to enhance our revenue model and support the revenue generation of our partner artists.” He added, “We are currently in discussions with an independent bookstore in Incheon, aiming to open a store there. After securing a distribution channel, we plan to accelerate our efforts to secure a nationwide sales network.”
Meanwhile, ICEF, a resident company of the Digital Content Enterprise Growth Support Center, established by the Ministry of Science and ICT and operated by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and the Next Generation Convergence Content Industry Association, is participating in customized consulting services related to technology commercialization and investment attraction, receiving expert advice tailored to the company’s needs.
